Before Arrival
Visas
All students (except European Union and American citizens), must follow the following procedures in order to obtain a Swiss student visa:
Upon acceptance of a new student, the administration will provide him/her with a document to be filled out and signed by the student and returned to the European University. With this document, the administration will start the visa procedure. In the meantime, the student is requested to go to the nearest Swiss Embassy or Consulate in his/her country to apply for the same. The student must provide the embassy or consulate with the certificate of acceptance in French (provided by European University Geneva together with the admission letter) as well as his/her passport. The embassy or consulate will also provide students with a form to be filled out and signed. This form will be sent directly by the embassy/consulate to the immigration authorities in Switzerland. Visas are normally issued within 1-3 months.
European Union and American citizens can enter Switzerland without a visa. The European University Geneva administration will provide the students with the necessary documents upon their arrival in Switzerland.
On arrival
Residence Permit
Upon arrival in Geneva, students should immediately meet with the administration staff of the university in order to obtain the necessary documentation to obtain an official residence permit in Switzerland for the duration of their studies. The residence permit is issued by the Swiss authorities and takes approximately 2 months to receive the document.
